DONEGAL ALLIANCE CHURCH

Living the Call Together.

Donegal C&MA Church Monthly Outreach Bulletin

All’s Gods people are to have an overriding sensitivity to the spiritual needs of others, for the salvation of the unsaved and the spiritual protection and growth of the saved.  We are to be sensitive to the spiritual needs of our friends, neighbors, fellow students, all members of our family, pastors, fellow church members and co workers.

Jacques Ellul, a contemporary Christian philosopher is convinced that prayer for persons living in the technological age must be combative (now there is food for thought) not just to combat Satan, corrupted society and ones self but to combat with God. Moses pressed God, Jacob wrestled with God, in 1540 Luther who was reforming the church received a farewell note from his good friend and assistant Friedrich Myconius who was expected to die shortly.  Luther wrote back and said “…The Lord will never let me hear that thou art dead, but will permit thee to survive me.   For this I am praying, this is my will, and may my will be done, because I seek only to glorify the name of God.”  Freidrich soon recovered, he lived six more years and died two months after Luther.”  You see combat not to defeat but to state your case before God boldly and righteously not for self but for God. (Ephesians Commentary John MacArthur)
